Hull Maritime Museum

The sea has played a large role in Hull's history, discover all about it at the free Hull Maritime Museum. Exploring from the 18th Century to the present day the museum examines the whaling industry, fishng industry and merchant trade.

The whaling gallery includes a full size whale skelepton alongside replica craft and records of the industry. It also explains the uses of the whale from ornaments made from the bone to oil for lamps.

Photographs, documents and pictures add to the collection, depicting Hull in an early time.

Admission to the Hull Maritime Museum is FREE


Gift Shop


Level access to the building is available.  Please ring the bell near the steps of the main entrance to draw the attention of staff.  Wheelchair access is available to almost all of the displays, with a lift to the first floor. Accessible toilet and baby change are available.
Assistance dogs are welcome, please notify staff when booking.
