North York Moors Railway heritage train journeys across the North York Moors to Whitby

The North Yorkshire Moors Railway is a preserved heritage railway traveling from Pickering across the North Yorkshire Moors to Whitby on the Coast. Every effort has been made to preserve the authenticity of the line and the rural stations on route. Steam and heritage diesel trains provide the regular services on the track.

This is the main hub of the NYMR and base for it's offices. The station is located in he very close to the centre of town. The station has a gift shop, cafe and has been restored to it's 1937 condition, with many original features and fittings.


This is one of the smallest stations and is a great base for walkers and hikers heading into Newton Dale.

This is a request stop for walkers and hikers.

Famous from Heartbeat and Harry Potter and the Philosophers ston this station and town will be instantly recognisable for many. There is a refurbished tea room at the station. the walk inot the village is up a relatively steep incline.

The station is located right in the centre of the village, and has been restored in a 1960's British rail style. the station has a tearoom and shop.

What a way to arrive at the seaside! Followingan extensive refurbishment the station now has two platforms. Situated just a stone's throw from the harbour Whitby offers visitor a traditional seaside day out; beach, donkey rides, fish and chips and amusements. It is also home to one of the finest Gothic Abbeys in the country,

Royal Scot at NYMR

Royal Scot, which was built in 1927, was the first in a new breed of steam locomotives, made by the LMS for their fastest passenger services from London to Birmingham, Manchester and Glasgow.NYMR is one of the most historic lines in the North of England, taking visitors on picturesque journeys along an 18 mile railway line aboard steam and heritage diesel trains. The railway passes through stunning scenery, from wooded valleys to beautiful countryside, stopping at charming villages and spectacular seaside locations.
