Rievaulx Abbey

Rievaulx Abbey is one of the most complete of Englands Abbey ruins. The Abbey is an English Heritage property and is located close to Helmsley in the North York Moors, a peaceful and tranquil valley. The abbey was founded around 1132 and was the first Cistercian Abbey in the North.

At Rievaulx Abbey you will learn about the devout lives of the monks, through their spiritual lifestyle and beliefs and the wealth they amassed through sheep farming. An onsite museum provides extra information and contains many artefacts discovered at the site.
