Skipton Castle

Skipton Castle is one of the best preserved medieval castles in the country. Visitors can explore every corner of this impressive history-rich castle, which withstood a three-year siege during the Civil War. View the Banqueting Hall, the Kitchen, the Bedchamber and Privy. Climb from the depths of the Dungeon to the top storey of the Watch Tower.
Tour sheets (available in 9 languages) are provided for all visitors to help you explore.

Skipton Castle is still fully roofed, which has helped preserve the building and also allows visitors to understand the use of the rooms and feel the sense of history. The Castle is accessed via the gatehouse, which is overlooked by a watch tower, a building which has been particularly important in the buildings defence.

Rooms which can be explored by visitors include the kitchen, the banqueting hall, a delightful tudor courtyard, the wine cellar, the dungeons, the watch towers, bedrooms and fighting chambers.
