Sheffield Manor Lodge

Sheffield Manor Lodge discovers the history of Sheffield over the last 600 years. Through a series of exhibitions and trails visitors are invited to explore seven stories of Sheffield.

The stories start in the Tudor era, when the Manor Lodge was the country residence of Lords of the Manor, and the surrounding parkland their hunting arena. The Manor villages mark the next period of time during the 18th century, when coal mining became important in the era and the area became a vibrant community.

During this time the parkland was divided in plots for agricultural and indutrial use, two of the farms from this period have survived, Manor Oaks and Manor Cottage Farms. During the interwar period demand for housing led to building in the area. Following a period fo decline the lodge arrives at today, a period of re: rebuilding, recollecting the stories, recycling and making better environment, repairing and reintroducing people to their heritage. Whilst providing a fascinating, fun and interactive day out.
