Elsecar Heritage Railway

The Elsecar Heritage Railway is a volunteer run, maintained and operated service which operates on Sundays between Easter and November. The service operates heriatge and preserved steam trains and diesel locomotives.

The service runs from Rockingham Station to the Elsecar Heritage Centre, home to  variety of individual craft workshops, artist studios, antique centres and exhibitions alongside a children’s indoor play centre and cafe. Plus the Elsecar Visitor Centre.

The one mile route of the heritage railway is very scenic and passes alongside the Dearne and Dove Canal.

A programme of special events run throughout the year in addition to the Sunday service.
