Kirklees Light Railway

Kirklees Light Railway travels over three miles on a 15" narrow gauge track through the South Pennine foothills. The engines; Hawk, Owl, Jay, Fox and Badger, travel from Clayon West near Huddersfield, to the terminus at Shelley. Shelley has some great view of the Pennines.

The main station at Clayton West has a children's outdoor play area and a cafe. Speical events are regular occurences on the railway with regular visits form Thomas and friends and seasonal fun on the trains.

Halloween Ghost Train

31st October, 1st & 2nd November
Dare you climb aboard our Halloween Ghost Train for an evening of frights to scare even the strongest of souls? Test your nerves aboard our ghost train taking you along our spooky line to the haunted woods!

Day Out With Thomas

15th & 16th November
Meet Thomas, Percy, Mavis and the Fat Controller and many other attractions to keep the kids entertained.

Santa Specials

29th & 30th November, 6th, 7th, 13th, 14th, 20th to 23rd December
Climb aboard the Santa Express and travel in steam heated carriages to Shelley Station. Santa will be waiting in his cosy grotto with sacks full of presents for the children. Whilst you are waiting to see Santa, adults will be treated to a mince pie and "festive tipple" and children will receive a biscuit and juice drink in our heated marquee.
