Bolton Castle is one of the best preserved medieval castles in the country. Many of the rooms and features are in outstanding condition and are just waiting for you to discover them; including the Old Kitchens, Dungeon, Solar, Nursery, Armoury, Great Chamber and Mary Queen of Scots bedroom. About one third of the rooms are fully intact and the rest of the Castle is almost completely accessible giving visitors great insight into its turbulent 600 year past.

Within the Castle grounds enjoy the maze, see inside a bee hive, visit the wild boar at feeding time or enjoy the falconry displays. From the restored medieval herb or rose gardens you are also treated to some of spectacular views of Wensleydale.

Open daily 10am – 5pm from Saturday 13th February until Sunday 30th October 2016 (except Feb, March & Oct when castle closes at 4pm)

Medieval Music in the Dales is a major event in the early music calendar - a weekend dedicated solely to the music of the middle ages. It's all happening at Bolton Castle in beautiful Wensleydale in North Yorkshire, on the 2nd to 4th September 2016. It is a weekend of music-making and musical inspiration with instruments for sale, concerts, workshops, sessions, a medieval feast and a medieval market.
