Thirsk - Gateway To The North York Moors

Thirsk is situated close to the A1(M) so has very good transport links, it also has the North Yorkshire Moors National Park to the east, the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty to the West and beyond that the Yorkshire Dales National Park making it a good location to explore many of Yorkshire's attractions. In Thirsk itself is the World of James Herriot, a unique tribute to Alf Wight, author of the legendary books, a blue plaque, marking a walk around 20 buildings important in themselves or because of former residents.
