Situated in Rothwell just five miles south of Leeds city centre, Swithens Farm is a friendly, family-run working farm designed to offer hands-on animal experiences and all-weather play for young children.
Featuring a large undercover animal barn where children can feed pigs, calves, goats, and llamas, alongside a multi-level indoor soft play barn, farm shop, and cafe, it remains one of West Yorkshire’s most popular budget-friendly family days out.

Swithens Farm provides plenty to keep toddlers and young children entertained across its indoor and outdoor zones:
- Undercover Animal Barn: Feed friendly farm residents including pigs, calves, goats, sheep, llamas, alpacas, donkeys, ponies, chickens, and rabbits. Bags of animal feed can be purchased on entry.
- Swithens Play Barn: A multi-level indoor soft play frame featuring ball pools, slides, climbing obstacles, and a dedicated soft play section for under-3s.
- Outdoor Play & Paddock Walks: Stroll along open paddock walkways to see outdoor livestock and let children play on outdoor play equipment.
- Swithens Farm Shop: Pick up locally sourced meats, fresh eggs, Yorkshire cheeses, preserves, and seasonal vegetables from the on-site farm shop.
- Seasonal Strawberry Picking: During summer months (typically June and July), visitors can enjoy pick-your-own strawberry fields on the farm grounds.
