Wakefield is once again going to be painted pink, in celebration of the Rhubarb Triangle and the unique Yorkshire Forced Rhubarb.
Whether you're a lifelong fan of the tart pink stalk or a foodie looking for your next favourite find, this festival is the perfect way to shake off the winter blues. Here is everything you need to know to plan your day out.
What’s On at the Festival?
The 2026 festival is bigger than ever, stretching across the Cathedral Precinct, Union Street, and the WX (Wakefield Exchange).
- The Food & Drink Market
The heart of the festival is the legendary market with over 50 specialty chalets.
The Treats: Look out for rhubarb-infused gin, jams, artisan cheeses, brownies, and even rhubarb-themed sausages.
Fresh Forced Rhubarb: Don't forget to buy the real deal—tender, neon-pink forced rhubarb grown in the Rhubarb Triangle.
- 2. Live Chef Demos (at WX Wakefield Exchange)
Head over to the Demo Stage to see top culinary talent in action.
2026 Line-up: Catch Karen Wright (GBBO), Steph Moon and award-winning chef Rachel Green sharing their secrets for sweet and savoury rhubarb dishes.
Schedule: Demos run every hour from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm daily. No booking required! Demos last 45 minutes
- 3. The Rhubarb Food & Drink Trail
In partnership with Wakefield BID, local bars and restaurants across the city are joining the fun. From limited-edition rhubarb cocktails to gourmet lunch specials, follow the trail map to taste the best of the city.
🎨 Family Fun & Entertainment
The festival is a fantastic day out for all ages, with plenty of free activities to keep the kids busy:Meet the Characters: Keep an eye out for Ruby Rhubarb and Rudy and Barb, who will be roaming the streets for selfies." The Kids Craft Zone (WX): Free workshops where children can make their own rhubarb crowns or kaleidoscopes. Rebarbara Projection by Fenyszoro Visual Immerse yourself in the magical world of Rhubarb with this dazzling psychedelic projection artwork from Fényszóró Visual (Lightspray Visual).
