The Glass Works Square in Barnsley town centre is transforming into a festive destination this winter for Christmas on the Square. Featuring weekend festive markets, live entertainment, and the debut of a month-long alpine tipi bar, the square offers plenty of reasons to visit throughout December.

The celebrations run from Friday 4th December until New Year's Eve 2026, combining artisan shopping stalls with cosy winter drinks, workshops, and family activities right in the heart of Barnsley.

Artisan Markets & Independent Shopping 🛍️✨

The Glass Works Square will host dedicated market days across December, bringing regional traders, food stalls, and crafters together:

• Artisan Street Fayre (4th – 6th Dec & 18th – 20th Dec): Returning for two dedicated three-day weekends, offering handcrafted gifts, festive food treats, and bespoke seasonal products from local traders.
• Young Trader Market (12th December): A one-day market showcasing products, crafts, and innovations from young entrepreneurs across the region.
• The Glass Works Retail & Market Hall: Complemented by the indoor Barnsley Market Hall, independent shops, and central high-street stores surrounding the square.

The True North Après-Ski Tipi Bar 🎪🔥

Making its debut on The Glass Works Square, the True North Après-Ski Tipi brings an alpine-inspired venue to Barnsley town centre from 4th December through to 31st December 2026:

• Daily Opening Hours: Open daily from 12:00 PM to 11:00 PM for winter drinks and seasonal socialising.
• Live Festive Entertainment: Hosting a packed schedule including live acoustic music sessions, brass bands, and festive entertainment.
• Creative Workshops: Festive activities hosted inside the tipi include wreath-making sessions and seasonal arts and crafts.
