Step aboard the North Yorkshire Moors Railway (NYMR) this Christmas for the Tinsel Tipple—a brand-new festive evening train service offering a lively, sociable alternative to traditional family Santa trains.

Running on 28th November, 12th, 22nd, and 23rd December 2026 (departing at either 5.00pm or 6.30pm), this grown-up festive journey combines classic steam travel with seasonal treats, live Christmas music, and interactive entertainment.

Designed specifically for guests aged 14 and over, the Tinsel Tipple is built for couples, groups of friends, festive work get-togethers, and multi-generational families looking for a unique Christmas night out.

• Atmospheric Arrival: Station arrival sets the mood with festive lighting and seasonal music playing across the platforms.
• On-Platform Sing-Alongs: Enjoy live Christmas sing-along music on Platform 2 before stepping on board your decorated carriage.
• Treats Included: Passengers aged 18+ receive a 50ml serving of Baileys paired with a fresh mince pie (soft drink alternatives are provided for ages 14–17 or non-drinkers).
• Mischievous Entertainment: Cheeky roaming elves wander through the carriages causing playful festive mischief alongside live music throughout the return journey.

On Board & Journey Route 🚂

Departing from historic Pickering Station, the steam train travels through the evening countryside to Levisham Station before making its return journey. The station tea room at Pickering is open prior to departure for extra drinks and treats, making it a great starting point for a wider evening out in North Yorkshire.

Please Note: The Tinsel Tipple is tailored as a grown-up festive experience for ages 14+. There is no visit from Santa on these specific evening departures.
