Brightening the North Yorkshire coastline as winter sets in, Scarborough Lights returns as the opening festival of the year-round Scarborough Fair event season. Featuring outdoor light trails, illuminated historic landmarks, indoor light art, and community installations, the festival lights up the seaside town throughout late autumn.

Launched by North Yorkshire Council as part of the broader Scarborough Fair initiative, Scarborough Lights brings together national and international light artists alongside local community groups to transform iconic seaside spaces into glowing evening spectacles.

Festival Highlights & Locations 💡✨

Displays span across several distinct zones in Scarborough, blending ticketed marquee installations with free outdoor community displays:

• Scarborough Castle Illuminations: Dramatic historic lighting projections across the castle headland and ancient stone walls, offering panoramic evening coastline views.
• Peasholm Park Light Trail: A scenic evening walk around the park's central lake and Japanese Gardens featuring illuminated trees, lanterns, and water reflections.
• Town Centre & St Mary’s Church: Indoor and outdoor light sculpture displays, community lantern projects, and projection art mapped onto historic stone facades.
• The Grand Hotel & South Bay Promenade: Feature lighting runs highlighting Scarborough's Victorian seafront architecture and harbor wall.
