Because nothing says "autumn fun" like a French mortician chasing you through the fog.

Located at Thornhurst Manor Country Park, this is a highly physical, extreme walk-through scare attraction designed specifically for adults, older teens, and groups of friends seeking a genuine thrill.

For seven years the Operator has kept one door locked. In 2026 he opens it. The maze known only by its classified file, Project: Dead on Arrival, finally has a name: the Mortician, a brand new scare maze at Doncaster Fear Factory, South Yorkshire's premier extreme scare attraction.

The New Nightmare: Enter The Mortician 🩺☠️

For the current season, the creators have unlocked a door that has remained strictly sealed for seven years. The focal point of the event is The Mortician, a psychological scare maze developed under the classified codename "Project: Dead on Arrival".

The maze draws you into a dark, cinematic narrative: Dr. Pierre Dubois, a provincial French mortician, fled to England alongside his cold-smiling mistress, Florence Didier, following a string of illicit practices involving "lifeless" bodies that were not actually dead. Having settled into the Yorkshire fog to escape the authorities, Dubois has quietly set up shop again.

What lies inside:

The Mortician is one of the most intense experiences at Doncaster Fear Factory, built on psychological triggers and sensory deprivation designed to unsettle you.

  • The Atmosphere of the Slab: The maze features sudden, sharp temperature drops and lighting shifts designed to mimic a damp, derelict morgue.
  • Immersive Sound: the sound design is cranked high to heighten tension and disorientation.
  • Live actors: they know the layout better than you do. Expect them in unexpected places.
  • The Spillover Zones: The nightmare doesn't end when you escape the clinic. The doctor's gruesome story leaks directly into the surrounding woods, connecting to two secondary scare zones, Project: Damned and Project: Douglas, extending the footprint of the chase into the dark undergrowth.

The 2026 Core Scare Mazes

  • sHELLton Motel: A deeply unsettling check-in experience filled with branching pathways, hidden doors, and sudden, claustrophobic encounters as you try to evade a resident killer.
  • Quinlens & Co: A beautifully grim, historically detailed descent into a Victorian plague era. You will navigate rat-infested bakeries and dripping sewer lines while being hunted by aggressive plague doctors.
  • Friargate Foundry: A dark, industrial labyrinth designed to disorient. This maze pieces together the worst elements of the factory's past terrors, featuring intense heavy machinery noise, blinding strobes, and a notorious dental section.
  • Friargate Foundry: A raw, basic, and utterly terrifying pitch-black maze. Stripped of elaborate props, this experience forces your group to guide themselves through the dark using a single physical rope, leaving you completely vulnerable to hands-on grabs from the shadows.

The Woodland Scare Zones

The horror spills directly out of the indoor mazes and into the dark outdoor acreage of Thornhurst Manor via three interconnected, free-roaming zones:

  • Project: Damned & Project: Douglas: Two brand-new, narrative-driven outdoor zones that link directly to The Mortician storyline, tracking the containment breach of the doctor's gruesome medical experiments through the trees.
  • The Crimson Harvest: The park’s signature open-air woodland trail where actors disguised as towering, feral scarecrows have complete freedom to track and pursue groups through the mud and thick fog banks.
